T.F. Cia de Dança

T.F. Cia de Dança is an artistic collective based in the city of São Paulo since 2002. Its cast is composed of professionals from different dance backgrounds and training, bringing dance into dialogue with urban spaces. The group researches Contemporary Urban Dance, understood as a way of exercising contemporary thinking within dances rooted in hip-hop culture. This investigation focuses on the search for an original body of work, shaped by a research process into the sensations that stimulate these bodies through the individuality of the performers and through bodily states built from the relationship between body and city.

The group T.F.Style began in 2002 under the direction of Igor Gasparini. From 2007 onward, under the artistic direction of Frank Tavanti, T.F.Style Cia de Dança emerged, standing out precisely for this distinctive approach: being one of the pioneering collectives in the investigation of Contemporary Urban Dance. In 2022, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the artistic collective, we began using only the name T.F. Cia de Dança.

The company was selected for the 20th, 24th, 28th, 32nd, and 37th editions of the São Paulo City Dance Promotion Program — Fomento à Dança — in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024, as well as for the PROAC Call for the Circulation of Dance Performances in the State of São Paulo in 2016, 2020, and 2022. It received the APCA Award for Best Dance Premiere in 2019 with ELO; was nominated for the APCA Award for Choreography | Creation in 2024 with RASTRO; and received the Denilto Gomes Award for “Best Cast” with Zona Cinzenta in 2022, and for “Modes of Creation in Dance” with RASTRO in 2024.
