Contemporary Urban Dance Workshop:
Day 17, October 2026
Saturday, from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Bodies of the Border investigates the limits—physical, symbolic, and social—that run through bodies in contemporary Brazil. The work seeks to reflect on the plurality of bodies that call these borders into question: Black people, women, homosexual individuals, and those from the periphery come together in the belief that, together, individualities are strengthened, creating possible microcracks for understanding the world today. In times marked by social and symbolic distancing, the work proposes crossing these borders beyond the physicality that separates territories, affirming a longing for encounter, for recognition of one’s own body as a border, and for (s)cinesthetic experience as a ritual of sharing. By recognizing a portrait of the human condition as essentially collective, Bodies of the Border affirms the need to be together, to seek interactions, associations, and ways of living together. Onstage, hierarchies between social roles are tested and, in the best-case scenarios, questioned and reconfigured, making room for new forms of relationship, listening, and presence.
