“Struggle… Opposition… Healing… Rebellion… Destroy… Get free. The label of being human is in constant exchange between good and evil. Throughout our history, crossing different cultures, many of our beliefs are simply swapped, while others come and go to a place where it is impossible to remember the customs of days gone by. What once was bad, thousands of years later can become commonplace. So how, as humans, can we tell what is, without a doubt, right?

This dance that you are about to watch does not answer that question. But it presents to you a powerful dance—full of human characters, physicality, drama, and honesty. A context will be created in which everyone will need to play together, building a representation of the dream from the everyday life of being human. You will see many things; or you may find absolutely nothing. My hope, however, is that you find at least one path to connect. If you do, I also hope that that character will feel this connection with another human being—with you—even if it is just a little stronger than before stepping into this theater.”  – Daniel “the grouch” Holt, director of Dirt and choreographer.
