Bodies of the Border

Release

The work seeks to reflect on the plurality of bodies that call such borders into question: Black people, women, homosexual people, people from the periphery. They come together in the belief that together individualities are strengthened, while also providing possible microfractures for understanding the world today. In times of social distancing, we understand the crossing of these borders beyond the physicality that separates territories.

A longing for meeting, for the possibility of recognizing one’s own body as a boundary, and for (s)cinesthetic experience in a ritual of sharing. Bodies of the Border aims to recognize a portrait of the human condition: collective, joint, grouped—seeking interactions, associations. Amid the silence of distancing, we rediscover and invent ways to be together. Onstage, hierarchies among social roles are tested and, in the best-case scenarios, can be questioned and reconfigured.
